Lord some days I wish I could say to you Lord, I have matured and no longer fall for the same old tricks our ancestors did in the bible. Yet I am learning more and more that we as believers are still struggling with distractions. We allow things we know are not in our best interest to distract us from our purpose. We begin to justify why our thought patterns are correct. We think our wisdom surpass yours – even I’m chuckling at that statement Lord.
In Romans 12: 1-2 in the Message version it says:
1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Lord I pray you will help us to realign our eyes to focus on YOU. Lord I will confess my Facebook feed, email notifications, text messages, and Instagram notifications have become a distraction at times. Lord I find myself spending more time on social media than I do reading the Word of God. Lord please forgive me for taking my focus off you and looking to the world for my nourishment. You are the daily bread I need. Lord it is my prayer that I will be changed from the inside out. Lord it is my prayer that I will seek your face first before others. Lord I want us to do this life together. Thank you Lord for still loving on me even my focus becomes blurry. Lord help me to become laser focused on you. I ask all of this in Jesus name – AMEN
